THIS I BELIEVE
I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Someone might think it is because of God’s will, someone may call it destiny or a guardian angel but I think it is some kind of a spirit or just a simple connection that ties everyone. For now, let’s call it The Spirit. Sometimes The Spirit ruins all your plans, but in the end everything turns out even better. It is sort of a predestination.
In my life I had a lot of proofs that there isn’t such a thing as randomness and if something happens, it happens for a reason. One of them was an accident with a really important exam. This exam could affect my whole future and it meant a lot to me at that moment. I studied really hard, and tried to do my best. It was an English exam, by the way, and I passed speaking task that was a few weeks earlier than the last and bigger part of the exam. Unfortunately, a week before the exam, I was sent to a hospital, because my stomach hurt a lot. Turned out it was appendicitis that appeared to be
purulent. After a successful operation, the nurse said that if we ignored the appendix for a long time, it would burst and I would die as a result. I believe it was a miracle that I didn’t die.
If you think that I was just lucky at that time, keep listening. The story doesn’t end yet. As you remember, I had to take the exam. It was pretty clear that I couldn‘t do that because I was lying in bed in the hospital and I was supposed to keep doing that for a month. I begged the nurses and doctors to let me go for one day to take the exam but they didn’t. I was desperate. I need to emphasize that the exam cost about 130 euros. After all, I skipped the exam and I had to take a statement from the hospital so that the examiners allowed me to pass another exam without paying extra money. They did and this is the second proof that some kind of a spirit helped me. Besides the fact that I had to take an exam six months later, I passed it and got the highest score.
The third and the last proof of The Spirit in this story was when I met one my friends who took the exam that I couldn’t and one examiner who I did the speaking part. The friend told me about all the tasks in that exam and they were really hard. I even thought that I wouldn't do them properly and might earn a pretty low mark. Additionally, the examiner reported that I did pretty badly in the speaking part. I was and I am 99% sure I would FAIL the exam. Ironically,as you already know, I was in the hospital and the whole incident with the appendix appeared to be a good thing.
That is my story and just a few of my proofs that The Spirit is between us, connects us and helps us. If this story doesn’t show you that everything happens for a reason, I really don’t know what does. Still, this I believe.
